We welcome you with warm smiles to our practice!

Co-Owner and CFO of Vass Dental Group

In January 2008 after working in Mall Management for 22 years, and serving as the Regional Vice-President for Simon Property Group, in which I was responsible for 12 malls across three states, I joined Vass Dental Group to take over the financial and marketing areas of the practice. I take care of accounts payable, payroll, marketing, contracts, and ordering of supplies. It thrills me to be part of the process that brings new patients to our practice, and I love developing new advertising strategies. This practice is something truly special, and I’m not just speaking as the spouse of our doctor.

I enjoy my time with Dr. Vass, our 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and pets. Together, we teach the Young Marrieds Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Waldorf, where I am also the president of Women on Mission I. I am an active  member of Zonta, an International Women's Service Organization, and I work with passion on projects to prevent domestic violence and help victims of same.  Dr. Vass and I are members of the Business Alliance of Charles County, and additionally, I am a Division Manager with Jewels by Park Lane.

Front Desk/ Office Manager

I am on the front line at our office. Whether answering your first call or greeting you when you enter our doors, I set out to make a good impression. I also make appointments, collect payments, and make financial arrangements with insurance companies. I love meeting and working with new patients, especially when I can help solve any of their financial problems. I love my husband, our four children, and 13 grandchildren. I am very proud of my two youngest sons for their service to our country in the US Navy.

Dental Assistant

On November 4th, 2013, I will be celebrating my 2-year anniversary at Vass Dental Group.  As a Dental Assistant,  I do routine dental work, keep the office sterile and clean, and help Dr. Vass and the Team in any other way I can. I am in this field to make lives better one smile at a time, and I really enjoy teaching people about how to take great care of their teeth.

I love all sporting activities and am interested in all forms of art. I also enjoy visiting art museums and art shows.

 Dental Assistant

I started my Dental Assisting Career in 1987 assisting in four handed dentistry.  I have various responsibilities to keep the office ready for patients so they can feel comfortable while they are with us at Vass Dental Group. I love dentistry but my favorite part of my job is interacting with our patients on a personal level while treating their oral needs at the same time. I feel this helps to ease the patients’ anxiety level so we can take good care of them.

I am very happy to be working with Dr. Vass and his staff. They all have welcomed me into their family dental practice with open arms and a positive attitude since I joined the team in September 2014. It has been wonderful to see this is how they treat their patients as well.

I believe that God put me in this office and surrounded me with the wonderful staff and patients because I need them as much as they need me. I feel very blessed to be a part of this dental practice and I hope to be a part of the Vass Dental Group "family" for a very long time.

Aside from the dental field, I enjoy being with my family and riding motocross with my two teen sons. I am also very involved with my local church, Calvary Grace Assembly of God Church in LaPlata, Maryland.

I hope that our patients are as excited to meet me as I am to meet them! Please call me "Joanie"

Dental Hygienist

My childhood dream was to be a Dental Hygienist.  I graduated from University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.  I was awarded the Alpha Omega Award for “exemplifying the qualities of humanitarianism, ethical standards, and devotion to the profession.”

I began practicing dental hygiene immediately out of school.  I have worked in the Clinton/Upper Marlboro area for 16 ½ years, Dunkirk for 3 years, and Mechanicsville, MD for 13 years at St. Mary’s Dental.  I am a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and actively participate in the local association.  I continue to enhance my professional skills through conferences, conventions, and at least 15 continuing education credits a year.

I am happily married to Bruce , and have 3 sons, and a granddaughter.  I am an active member of First Baptist Church of Waldorf.  I enjoy running, biking, hiking, spending time with my family, and being a cheerleader for their extra-curricular activities.  I enjoy helping others through good and difficult times to be all that God wants them to be.
